How to draw a hand

Practice learning the bones of the arm and hand

Distinguish between the metacarpals and the falanges

Remember the knuckles are the metacarpophalangeal joint

This shape is the hand bones you just learned

These shapes are the proximal and middle phalanges. Remember a diamond shape for fingers

Add distal phalanges

Outline to add muscle and skin layer

Use another sheet to trace

Trace out outer line

Add some finger nails and shading by looking at your own hand

TRACE AGAIN from blank sheet Do some fixing here and there and VOILA. Now practice!

Knowing the joints and where the carpals attach to the metacarpals will make a big difference. This is an illustration I made for anatomy class
